The CID Congregational Life Commission vision is to build relationships in Christ Jesus, our Lord in congregations and district. As part of that vision, they are hosting a series of workshops beginning with a workshop to strengthen the leaders of our congregation. The workshops will be 2 ½ hours in length on a Sunday afternoon.
Goal: Strengthening and building new/existing officers of a congregation and provide resources.
Feb. 24th – St. John, Effingham (901 W. Jefferson Ave.)
March 2nd – Springfield, Immanuel (2750 E. Sangamon Ave.)
March 9th – Normal, Christ (311 N. Hershey Rd.)
Registration: $10 for food (sack: sandwich with chips/bottled water) and cost of material to reproduce. Registration prior to event is needed for ordering food (payable on day of event). Click here for registration form.

Workshop Synopsis:
Presidents/Chairmen
Serving on a Congregational Board - Mr. Glenn Goeres
The purpose of this workshop is to equip participants to more efficiently carry out their roles as members or leaders of a board, council, or committee. This material can then be used as a guide to annual training programs in the congregation. Also this workshop will cover from voters meetings to boards and committees.
Elders - Rev. Joel Cluver
The Elders Workshop will cover helps for Elders with a particular emphasizes to “win back inactives.”a mini-version of a 3 hour workshop is also available)
Treasurers - Connie Ledbetter, Concordia Plan Services
The congregational treasurer’s manual will be covered with a particular emphasis on the Concordia Plans. Concordia Plans will have a representative leading the session for Feb. 24th and March 2nd (March 9th is pending)
Stewardship - Rev. Wesley Reimnitz
The sessions will cover organizing, equipping, and energizing the stewardship committee to develop a climate of giving, sharing, and serving in Christ Jesus. Also where resources can be found and used.
Evangelism - Rev. Joel Cluver
Evangelism workshop will cover the purpose of the committee, the three levels of evangelism (publicity, relational, visiting) forming and meeting of the committee and setting goals for evangelism involving the congregation. Resources will be provided for bringing prospects to an adult confirmation, friendship witnessing bible study, and an assimilation manual.
Youth Leaders
The sessions will cover equipping youth leaders and maintaining a healthy Christ-centered group.
The Congregational Endowment Fund - Mr. David Rohe
The Congregational Endowment Fund Workshop will examine the need for a congregation Endowment Fund. We will look at how the CID Gift Planning Counselor can lead you through the process necessary to establish your fund and some important questions to be asked as you work through the process.
