Witnessing of Jesus’ Love and Forgiveness in Your Community

Almighty God, You have called Your church to witness that in Christ You have reconciled us to Yourself. Grant that by Your Holy Spirit we may proclaim the Good News of Your salvation so that all who hear it may receive the gift of salvation; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

The LCMS Central Illinois, Southern Illinois, and South Wisconsin Districts are using funds awarded by the Bolick Foundation to partner with Ongoing Ambassadors for Christ to deploy adult evangelism teams in each of the three Districts. Teams can help congregations with 1) canvassing (which can be done in one of two basic ways), 2)"dry run” witnessing practice between congregation members and team members, and 3) beginning or augmenting the church’s evangelistic efforts in a nursing home.

Teams can work with congregations on one of three basic models:

  • Model 1 — A five-day event, Sunday through Thursday, including all three activities listed above
  • Model 2a — A two-day event, Saturday afternoon through Monday afternoon, including all three activities
  • Model 2b — A two-day event, Saturday afternoon through Monday afternoon, including two of the three activities (no canvassing)

When a team works with a congregation, the church’s expenses essentially amount to feeding and housing the team members. (Church members can host team members in their homes.) The congregation will probably also want to provide materials concerning the church for canvassers to pass out. In some instances, the congregation may have to contribute toward the travel expenses for team members.
